Description
Floral Oolong Tea is a delicate, lightly oxidised single-origin oolong from Ilam, Nepal — grown at 5,000–5,500 ft above sea level by Norling Specialty Tea's artisan team. Honey blossom, soft orchid, and a gentle peach sweetness on a mountain-light body. Everything a high-mountain oolong should be — and no bitterness.
The Story of Floral Oolong Tea
Oolong tea sits between green and black — oxidised just enough to develop depth and complexity, while still holding the fresh, aromatic character of a lighter tea. At 5,000–5,500 ft in the Ilam district, Norling Specialty Tea's artisan team has found the precise processing window that produces the floral, honey-soft profile this oolong is known for. The oxidation is controlled to approximately 20–30%, preserving the mountain freshness while building a quiet sweetness that lingers.
This tea was developed for drinkers who love Taiwanese high-mountain oolongs — the kind of cup you can steep multiple times, each infusion revealing a slightly different aspect of the same flower. Grown in small seasonal batches by 40 smallholder families and youth artisans, Floral Oolong Tea is a product of the land, the altitude, and the people who understand both.
Why Floral Oolong Tea Is Different
- Light 20–30% oxidation preserves the mountain-fresh floral character that full oxidation would destroy
- Grown at 5,000–5,500 ft in the Ilam highlands — the same elevation profile that produces Taiwan's most prized high-mountain oolongs
- Multiple-steep tea: each infusion opens new layers — honey on the first, soft orchid on the second, clean sweetness on the third
- Produced by Norling Specialty Tea's artisan team in Ilam — small-batch, hand-processed, never mass-produced
- Purchasing this helps support farms like Norling Specialty Tea achieve organic certification through our 5% back to farm program
About Norling Specialty Tea
Norling Specialty Tea is a young farm in the Ilam district of eastern Nepal, operated by youth artisans — 40 smallholder families and a team of young tea makers who hand-tend tea bushes at 5,000–5,500 ft above sea level. The farm is currently in the process of organic certification. Norling's teas are produced in limited seasonal batches, hand-processed from leaf to bag, and shipped directly to Canada. This is not commodity tea — it is the work of the next generation of Nepali tea makers, building something new at altitude.
