Experience the Unique Taste of Nepal Hills Tea from the Himalayas
Experience the Uniqueness of Nepal Hills Tea
Nepal Hills Tea Inc. is a Canadian specialty tea company dedicated to bringing the world's most underrated high-altitude teas from Nepal directly to your cup. Based in Peterborough, Ontario, we source exclusively from four small farm partners in Nepal's Ilam and Taplejung regions — grown at 5,000–7,000 ft above sea level, hand-processed in small batches, and naturally free of bitterness.
What Makes Nepal Hills Tea Different
Most tea sold in Canada is commodity product — blended from multiple anonymous sources, run through industrial processing, and sealed in plastic-laced bags. Nepal Hills Tea is the opposite: every tea is traceable to a named farm, a specific growing region, and a harvest flush.
The result is tea with:
- No bitterness — a direct result of high-altitude growing at 5,000–7,000 ft, where cool temperatures limit tannin accumulation
- Complex, distinctive flavour — floral, honey, stone fruit, dark chocolate profiles that change by farm and harvest
- Certified organic sourcing — two of four farm partners are certified organic; a third follows organic farming practices; the fourth is transitioning to certification
- Direct farm relationships — no brokers, 5% of every purchase returned to our farming partners

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Nepal Hills Tea?
Nepal Hills Tea Inc. is a Canadian specialty tea company based in Peterborough, Ontario. We source single-origin loose leaf teas directly from four named farm partners in Nepal's Ilam and Taplejung highlands at 5,000–7,000 ft. All teas are naturally free of bitterness and traceable to specific farms and harvests. We return 5% of every purchase to our farming partners.
Where does Nepal Hills Tea come from?
All Nepal Hills Tea comes from Ilam and Taplejung in eastern Nepal — two of the world's highest tea-growing regions. We source from four named farms: Farmers Tea Co., Pathibhara Tea Estate, Sandakphu Tea Estate, and Norling Speciality Tea.
Are Nepal Hills teas organic?
Two of our four farm partners — Farmers Tea Co. and Sandakphu Tea Estate — are certified organic. Pathibhara Tea Estate grows following organic farming practices. Norling Speciality Tea is currently transitioning to organic certification. We're specific about the status of each farm and don't make blanket claims.
Does Nepal Hills Tea taste bitter?
No. High-altitude growing at 5,000–7,000 ft limits tannin accumulation, which is what causes bitterness in most commercial teas. Every Nepal Hills tea is naturally smooth — even when brewed strong, even without milk or sugar.
